Special Called City Council Meeting
This meeting of the Ransom Canyon City Council was called to order in a special called meeting in order to discuss repair to the insulation at the South Lake Shore Drive Fire Station building.
Mayor Robert Englund called the meeting to order and asked for a moment of silence. Council members David Peterson, Donna Clarke and Ron Cox were present. Earl Starks and Dick Hulslander were absent.
Mayor Englund explained that Chief Rand McPherson reported that sections of the blown-on insulation in the South Lake Shore Drive Fire Station were falling down. Chief McPherson was concerned about high winter heating expense, and/or freezing equipment.
The council discussed the possible reasons for this deterioration, and considered that the spring hailstorm might be to blame. Police Chief Wayne Rawls commented that the humidity in the building is high due to the water in the engine, and that might have added to the problem.
Rand found three vendors who might do the repair. One vendor bid $800 for only the ceiling. One vendor did not follow up on the contact. One vendor offered to do the whole building, including the door, for $3500.
The council discussed possible warranties on the work, and the possible cost of heating this winter.
David Peterson moved to approve the repair at $3500, Ron Cox seconded, all approved.
Donna Clarke moved to adjourn, David Peterson seconded, all approved and the meeting adjourned.
